Dentistry and oral surgery
Anident is specialized in your pet’s dental and oral health.
A complete dental check-up and oral examination can only be performed when the animal is under anesthesia. Diagnosis always requires dental radiographs and when necessary we can obtain an accurate 3D CBCT image.
Out of oral diseases, periodontal disease (gum disease) is the leading cause of pets needing veterinary treatment, while tooth fractures is a close second. Active working dogs are especially prone to tooth fractures and other injuries that can cause pain and lead to a deterioration of the general health of the animal if left untreated.
Our oral surgery services help in situations where your pet is suffering from dental or jaw damage, for example periodontitis that has spread into surrounding jawbone, tooth or jaw fractures, or oral tumors.
We offer all services relating to dental or oral care. For example:
- Dental charting, radiographs, and scale and polish
- Dental extractions
- Fillings (restorations)
- Root canals and vital pulpectomies
- Metal crowns
- Misalignment corrections – only for health reasons
- Jaw fracture repair
- Oral tumor removals
- Split lip and/or split palate corrective surgeries
The goal of at-home treatment is plaque removal from the surface of the teeth. The best way to prevent plaque build-up is daily tooth brushing. See the video below for a demonstration of this.
